McKay Designs
Ben McKay resigned from his 42-year-old design practice in 2024 and founded McKAY, LLC in 2025 to bring nearly 50 years of home design experience to market.
Our old firm created countless custom home designs for homeowners, developers, and builders, ranging in size from 1200 to over 8000 square feet, in mountain, urban, and suburban to seaside communities. A few are included in “Southern Living Magazine” Home plans.
For the past year, I have updated some of my old designs and have designed others for today’s market, which you will find on this website.
We still will continue to design some custom homes in the next few years, as well as small commercial projects, but our focus is to provide pre-designed top-quality residential designs perfect for you and ready for construction.
The Rustic Cottages, Farmhouse, and Craftsman Collections, ranging from 1200 to 2500 square feet, feature stylish designs for starter homes and second-home markets.
The Classic Homes, ranging from 2500 to 4000 square feet, are beautiful, upscale houses. In 2026, we will introduce the Manor Collection of stately homes ranging from 4,000 to 9,000 square feet, as well as expand our existing home collections.
